Jackson Paramedics Receive STEMI Award

On August 18th, Mercy Medical Center hosted its appreciation dinner for local EMS squads.

The STEMI Cup Award was presented to Jackson Township Firefighter/Paramedics from Station 3 for their role in the "door to balloon angioplasty" time of 6 minutes, 52 seconds.  This is the fastest D2B time ever reported.

Upon their arrival and assessment of the patient, the medics recognized the patient's heart condition as a STEMI (ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction) and transmitted a 12 lead EKG to MMC.  The Heart Cath Team was assembled in advance and were awaiting the arrival of Medic 3.  The patient was immediately transported to the Cath Lab and angioplasty completed.

Congratulations to Captain Kai Rieger, Firefighter/Paramedic John Hurst and Firefighter/Paramedic Bob Domer.
