Jackson Township On February 28, 2008 at 5:49 pm, officers from the Jackson Township Police Department were dispatched to the Quaker Steak and Lube, 6073 Dressler Road for a shooting that had just occurred.  Upon arrival, it was determined that two individuals were leaving the establishment when a verbal altercation occurred between themselves and three other individuals sitting at the bar.  The two were asked to leave by management and proceeded to the parking lot where they entered a vehicle.  The remaining three individuals left the establishment and were confronted by the two suspects.  One of the suspects, Michael Rex, exited the passenger side of the vehicle, confronted one of the three individuals and hit him.  He was struck to the ground by the victim.  The second suspect exited the driver’s side of the vehicle and fired 3 shots into the ground from a handgun.  He then reentered the vehicle and fled the scene.  The vehicle is described as a 1994 Buick Park Avenue, white in color, Ohio Registration – EIR6863.  It was last seen eastbound on Dressler Road. 

 

The first suspect, Michael Rex, age 24, of 1432 Garfield Avenue S.W., Canton, Ohio has been charged with Assault, a misdemeanor of the 1st degree.  He was booked at the Stark County Jail after being treated for an injury he sustained after striking the victim.

 

Warrants for the second suspect are being obtained.
